It's probably a shorter list to tell you what you can't do...but we're going to try!

Nantahala Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Nantahala National Forest. The lake is at an elevation of 3,012 feet, making it the second-highest lake east of the Mississippi. The lake covers what was once the town of Aquone, which was a stagecoach stop between Asheville and Murphy, N.C. The lake is a great place to go for a swim, go fishing, or just enjoy the views. There are also several hiking trails nearby that are perfect for exploring the area.

Rafting and kayaking outfitters offer guided and self-guided trips down the lower Nantahala’s eight-mile whitewater venue, as well as. zip lines, canopy tours, rope courses, and adventure net play for kids. Nantahala Outdoor Center's main campus is located at the intersection of the Appalachian Trail and the Nantahala River, just outside the Great Smoky Mountains. With over 80 miles of trails to explore, there's no shortage of hiking and biking adventures to be had.
